Style Tips Step by Step

Step 1: Begin with dry hair. Spray a heat protector styling product if desired to protect hair and seal the style. Using clips, pre-section the hair, beginning at the top and working toward the bottom. At the nape of the neck, take a ½- to 1-inch section of hair and place it between the plates of the iron close to the scalp.

Step 2: Slowly slide the iron from the scalp toward the ends of the section. Keep the iron moving at all times to avoid clamp marks. At the proper, steady speed you should only need to make one pass over each section of hair.

Step 3: Release each pre-sectioned area of hair and repeat until you have reached the top of the head.

Variations... Turn the iron under for turned under ends or up to flip ends out.

Step 4: Part the hair as desired and complete the style. Use styling products to complete the look finishing silicone or polishing products make the ends look healthy and smooth or a gel or paste can be used for a piecy look.

TIPS FROM THE PROS: Use a heat resistant comb to pull thru the hair in front of the edge of the flat iron (instead of your fingers). This provides a little tension and will help make hair very straight.
