Clipper Techniques
Clipper-over-comb, overhand – under the crestline, tapering
Clipper –over-comb, underhand – over the crestline, layering
Backhand cutting – interior layering
Shear style cutting – use your clipper like a scissors 

Textured cutting tips…
1 blade, 2 cutting lengths – with and against the growth direction. The OA F/D blade is designed for freehand shaping of textured hair. Use T-84 for fast take-down prior to bald fading.

The “other” clipper cutting tools…
The haircutting chair – raise, lower, spin. Move the client, not the cutter.
The mirror – see the cut, improve the quality.
Your white shirt – use in the mirror as a backdrop, see the cut outline.

Detachable blades, helpful hints…
On, on/off, either. Only put a blade on your detachable blade clipper when the clipper is running. You can take a blade off when it is on or off. Two screws beneath the drive cap allow you to easily change the blade drive for like-new performance. Use Andis Cool Care Plus, 5 in ONE to keep your blades running cool and smooth. Sanitizes and protects, too! Cut down through your blade sizes when tapering. Start with larger sizes and go smaller/shorter.

Adjustable blade clippers…
When using snap-on attachment guards, set your clipper to the 000 or closed position. Cut clipper-over-comb with the lever in the #1 position to better control feed and blend. Invest in a replacement clipper blade once a year to maintain performance and client comfort.

Trimmer tips…
Clean up. Set your line in place and clean upward against hair growth direction. Do not scratch the neck. T-blades make it easy to trim corners and ear areas. Square blades are easier to manipulate in tighter spaces. Avoid asking a trimmer to cut over comb. Leave the big jobs to the big tools. Cordless trimmers offer greater mobility and convenience. Use small trimming combs when working with trimmers. Check the blade before you trim. A misaligned blade can nip a client.

How many clippers do I need? At least 3:

And finally:
Ears, eyebrows, nose… A haircut is not complete until all these areas have been addressed. Do not forget to oil your clipper! Always hang your clippers by their hanger loops to avoid drops and damage.
